Jose Galarza Martinez Memorial Site – a digital archive and tribute to the beloved grandfather, father, son, tio, brother, and friend to so many.

Jose had a tremendous impact on everyone he reached from his ministry in prisons, youth services, international ministry, to his daily work as a letter carrier with USPS in Compton, California for 30 years. Jose loved his children and took amazing care of his children. Jose loved his job and he loved walking on his route and talking to neighbors he delivered mail to. Jose loved music, he loved to laugh, and he loved to make people laugh. He was a very generous man and supported so many people through quiet and humble acts of kindness and care. Jose housed his friends and family in need. Jose gave his time and heart to causes he cared about. Jose worked with his friends and family to co-found a nonprofit organization – Spread God’s Love Ministry. Jose was (and is) and amazing father to his children and an amazing grandfather to his grandchild. Jose loved God wholeheartedly, his family, and his spirit lives with us forever.

Upon the sudden passing of Jose, the family put together a Meal Train website to raise immediate funds for arrangements. Some of the supporters who visited the site shared words and they are below. The few times I met your dad he had the biggest, warmest smile. You could feel the light and warmth radiate from him and that’s something that is in all the Martinez kids. All of you have that same warmth and will always carry that with you. My heart goes out to you. Sending you all the love!

My favorite memory of Jose was during a New Year’s Eve/ bday party for Sarah. And as the countdown was coming close and we’re we’re all “sauced” to say the least, Jose, at the top of his lungs yelled “I came in like a wrecking baaaaaaaaall!”. He was always remembered every detail of our lives and made an effort to ask us how we were doing. He will be missed. Love you guys so much, stay strong 💕
